Dispelling the Illusion of Control
Dispelling the Illusion of Control
You can play games all you want, yet limits still exist. It doesn't matter if it is a video game, board game, or sport. The extent of true control is few.
What is outside of actual control during the experience contains a gigantic list: the other players for their thoughts, words, and actions, the weather, other characters, injuries, the past, and the future.
This leaves a smaller list for what’s within our control: our actions, our thoughts, our attitude, and our mindset all within the present.
The list for what is in games and life for control are similar and zero down to one theme. Ourselves in the present.
As much as our minds would like to be able to control every aspect of life including other people, the environment, and time, that is not the truth. The facts lie on us alone as should our focus and attention in terms of what’s in our capacity to control.
Getting past the illusion of what we think is within our control can be difficult at times but not impossible with differentiating what’s within our true control.
