Life can become a massive pile up at times of what is in and out of our control. Areas which remind me of what I can control the most are through traveling. Thus, this week’s post traffic control deals with controlling the controllables in the lens of modes of transportation. Read. Reflect. Connect.
Traffic Control
On a plane there is only so much a passenger can control.
You can’t control the weather.
You can’t always control who you sit by.
You can’t control when food arrives or what kind there is available.
Yet, you can control how you use your time.
You could spend the time reading, watching a movie, listening to music, sleeping or talking.
On a train there is only so much a passenger can control.
You can’t control the weather.
You can’t always control who you sit by.
You can’t control who you have as the conductor. ‘
Yet, you can control how you use your time.
You can control which route you choose to take for the trip.
In a car there is only so much a driver can control.
You can’t control the weather.
You can’t control how the other driver’s control their cars.
You can’t control where the construction will be on the road.
Yet, you can control how you respond to the conditions around you for your own driving.
A majority of the time you can control the route you drive.
You can control what to listen to for the audio.
You can control the temperature of the car.
In life there is only so much a person can control.
You can’t control the weather.
You can’t control people’s thoughts about you or what they do.
You can’t control the decisions of others for a life changing opportunity.
You can’t always control what tasks you need to complete.
You can’t control if technology will work in your favor every single time.
Yet, you can control how you approach the mental foggy traffic of your thoughts.
You can choose to focus on what truly is in your control.
The areas you can truly control are in your own attitude, behavior, and effort.
Those are basic ways to approach controlling the controllables.
Is it always easy to control the controllables?
Not always.
Is it worthwhile to control the controllables?
Most definitely.
Your mind can get clogged up in what is uncontrollable.
Yet, focusing on the controllables can be the mental reset button to help you travel through life.
