Bounce Back
Have you ever played or seen Weeble Wobbles before? The toy from the past would always return to standing up after being pushed over. I have been thinking about Weeble Wobbles and life together lately. A couple of years ago I wrote a paper for a sport psychology undergrad class about resilience and I referred to Weeble Wobbles for beginning the paper as a hook. Now when I encounter struggles in life, I think back to my analogy from that paper. This week’s writing Bounce Back elaborates on this analogy. Read, connect, and enjoy.
Bounce Back
I fall down
And think I will stay there.
Yet, here I am standing again.
I fall down.
I am not staying down.
I am bouncing back.
I feel like a toy from long ago.
I am standing up,
Then an external matter bumps into me.
Sometimes I stumble slightly,
While other times I stumble a bit more.
Similar to the stumble
Sometimes I lay longer in the rubble more than I should.
Then, I feel the return part of the bounce.
Breathe and be ready for both sides of the bounce.
Breathe and be ready.
