Chapter 3

Sophia and Sophie starting making their way to Sophia’s only class for the day on campus. On the way, Sophia kept trying to figure out if the people they walked by could see Sophie or not. Each time she thought she could tell, Sophia would be stuck on what to think.

The class was a history required general class. Not Sophia’s favorite, nor apparently was it Sophie’s. Sophie began to manifest her frustration with the class by cursing and swearing. Sophia disregarded this at first while taking notes. However, Sophie kept swearing.

“Why do you swear so much?” Sophia asked scornfully.

Sophie shrugged her shoulders and replied, “It’s who I am.”

Then, Sophie started going off about negative things about the professor and classmates. When the end of class arrived, Sophia huffed out of the classroom followed by Sophie. Still, Sophie kept talking about the negatives surrounding the both of them as they walked to the apartment. Sophia’s head began to ache. So, Sophia called in sick for work for later in the day.

“You know. Enough of this.” Sophia stopped by her apartment grabbing a basketball before heading to the outdoor court. “Let’s settle this.”

“Check.”

“Check.”

Sophia proceeded to sink a three. When Sophia brought the ball back to the top of the key, Sophie challenged Sophia to drive to the lane. Sophia took on the challenge leading to Sophie to hack her on her shot. Throughout the game Sophie would counter Sophia while pushing her physically and mentally. Part way through the game, Sophia drove to the lane, Sophie full on shoved her without going for the ball.

Sophia got up and shouted at Sophie, “You’re a cheater and a punk.”

All Sophie did was shrugged her shoulders and smugly smiled. This reaction pushed Sophia over the line. Sophia started physically fighting with Sophie. Jab after jab were interchanged between the headshots and body shots. Sophie caught Sophia with a cut lip. On the other end, Sophie’s face was a swollen raspberry. Each of them took a moment to catch their breaths.

“You are everything I want to be and don’t want to be. You are the best and worst of me.”

After saying this, Sophia swung one last punch at Sophie and blacked out.

Chapter 4

At 7:53am, Sophia’s alarm blared.

She slowly opened up her eyes having remembered what had occurred the previous day. When she got out of bed, Sophia walked directly to the kitchen to see if Sophie was there again. Nobody was around. Sophia proceeded to check the living room, the bathroom, her bedroom, her roommate’s bedroom, and out the windows. Still, no Sophie to be found.

Suddenly, Sophia heard the main apartment door open. Thinking that it could be Sophie, Sophia rushed to the kitchen finding Jasmine having returned from buying groceries. As Jasmin was recounting her mourning so far, Sophia rushed out of the apartment. Sophia started to follow that route she believed to have taken with Sophie. Sophia began to call work saying that she was not feeling the best and did not think that she could come in for the evening shift.

After checking each place, Sophia took a deep breath to reflect on what was happening. A minute later, Sophia smiled and shook her head while looking to the sky. Right then, she turned her head to the right and saw a sign for a music club available on campus for later that day.

When Sophia walked into the classroom, the room was filled with half a dozen people in the fine arts room. She found an open seat at one of the tables in the room. Once she sat down, the student sitting at the other spot of the table turned to her and welcomed her. Then, the club president began the meeting with some class discussion about general music for getting a sense of what the students wanted out of the class. Midway through the meeting, Sophia took a deep breath having found another home.
